Get better marketing results by "picking your lane" | Consistency - The Easy Way

February 21, 20232 min read

“Consistency in your brand and your message solidifies who you are in the market place.”
- Sarah George

I will never stop talking about consistency. It's what solidifies your message. By staying consistent in your brand and your message you create a rhythm for clients to know you and refer you.

Consistency Matters

Consistent branding and message will engage your audience. Through this repetition they know what to expect of you. Stick to what you commit to - you won't see results overnight. You cut through the noise by being consistent. It's called frequency when your same message shows up in front of a prospect in more than one way - a digital ad, an email, a magazine article, a BNI e-blast. It takes 20+ times of seeing/hearing the same message before others pay attention.

Sporadic tactics and branding won't cut it - that dilutes your overall message. What happens is sometimes you're one thing, sometimes you're another and your audience doesn't know what you are. Sometimes you show up with a blog post, sometimes you attend a networking event - your people don't know where or when you'll show up. Consistency helps shape familiarity.

Familiarity is comfortable for your audience. They want to know what to expect. Even unpredictable brands have the familiarity of being unpredictable, when a crazy idea comes out of Burger King, we're not surprised. Shocked maybe, but not caught off guard.

Stay in Your Lane

Set a foundation or road map to keep you in line with consistent marketing. This will keep you on track for what activities you are doing when. These are the steps you take to get your message out to your audience. You may produce a monthly e-newsletter that gets emailed and posted to your website and social media platforms.

Start with one thing and master that, then add more. Get comfortable with repetition before adding a new routine. When you have a strong foundation you can build on to it. I'll also never stop saying "Stick to what you commit to."

Conclusion: With a road map to follow you can stay in your lane. You give your audience predictability, familiarity and set yourself as a trustworthy brand. One they can count on.
