Why You Keep Marketing Even With A Full Business Roster

“With repetition, you have a chance to reinforce your message.”

Why marketing matters, even when you're book is full - i.e.- Why does Coke still advertise? Budweiser?

What is the Purpose of Advertising?

Advertising is a form of marketing that gives you brand recognition. Brand recognition is important in everything from Pepsi to Farmers Insurance; it's why they have jingles (you heard the Farmers jingle in your head didn't you... bum bum bum bum dum dum BUM)

Remember the goal: If my friend recommends you, and I go to research more, how/what am I going to see about you?

Importance of Consistency

Some of the big-brand ads are iconic. The Budweiser frogs, the Staples easy button, the Wendy's beef lady.. and the reason they got that way is repetition.

Other iconic ads like Apple's 1984 ad (known as the best) were big talk-of-the-moment landmarks, but they're not remembered nearly as well because they were one-offs.

How can you apply this to your own marketing? The lesson is consistency. Let's put it in action.

3 Ways Local Businesses Can Use Consistency in Marketing

  1. Spread the same message in different arenas over the course of a month; this may look like your "meal plans for every kind of eater" message takes different forms of video and text on Facebook, short form video and long form on YouTube, and personal examples in a talk you do at the local PTA

  2. Cross promote the same message in other places; what Tuesday looks like for a picky-eater family, on Friday repost with a here's how we were then, here's how we are now...

  3. Back it up with advertising–low budget ads on Google and/or Facebook that bolster your marketing message, case studies, and social posts

Conclusion: Repetition is your friend! It takes several (20x in fact) touch-points to gain attention of your audience. With repetition, you have a chance to reinforce your message they are reading, hearing, and watching.

It can be difficult to spread your message on repeat without feeling like a broken record. Meet with me for a 1:1 consult to create a message blast plan for your next month. Schedule a Marketing Power Hour and we'll get it done right, now.
